Membership Meeting Summary – April 26, 2024

Attendees:

Key Reports:

  1. President’s Report: Discussed the recent attempted takeover of the 911 center by Sheriff John Allen and Commissioners Barbara Baca, Adriann Barboa, and Eric Olivas. The union opposed this action, and the commission has backed off for now.
  2. Vice President’s Report: Covered under New Business – Workday.
  3. Treasurer’s Report: No expenses this year, only interest income. Financial report attached.

Old Business:

  • Negotiations Update: Only nine articles still under discussion. Anticipate a 10% wage increase with no one-time payment.

New Business:

  1. Workday: Leaders met with HR regarding the launch. No written procedure on time rounding yet, and this will need to be negotiated.
  2. AFSCME PEOPLE: Council 18 seeks two people from each local to serve on the PEOPLE committee. Members do not need to be union officers but must support the PEOPLE program ($4.20/check).
  3. Ratification Plans: Discussed options for CBA ratification. Suggestions include separate ratifications at 911, MDC, and BC@AS, or a rover visiting each location.

Good and Welfare:

  • Recognitions: Isidoro Vigil and Elizar Aguilar recognized for their efforts in capturing the person who killed an NMSP Officer.
